Maryland Capital Enterprises
Maryland Capital Enterprises is a nonprofit business counseling service and micro lender serving Maryland's Eastern Shore. Haley Gallagher is the Executive Director, and Joe Morse is a Past Board Chairman & Special Advisor.
Education and training is one of their central missions. They provide a wide range of training opportunities, and one-on-one counseling. Joint efforts with other local agencies have proved very successful. Recently they have increased services targeting the needs of veterans wanting to start a business.
Providing small loans to new or existing small businesses is another primary mission of Maryland Capital Enterprises. They have loans available for qualified borrowers: up to $30,000 for new businesses and up to $50,000 for existing small businesses.
The Rural Development Center has been a long time supporter of Maryland Capital Enterprises. They helped start the nonprofit twelve years ago and remain active providing funding and board service.
In a difficult economy where loans are hard to get Maryland Capital Enterprises sees an increased number of people who have sophisticated knowledge about the lending process. They suggest entrepreneurs do their homework, do a business plan and get training before jumping in and signing a lease.
Maryland Capital Enterprises is holding a Monopoly tournament and gala, including a silent auction, to help raise funds for their entrepreneurial development center. Volunteers and silent auction items would be welcome; and, of course monopoly players to compete for the trophy. This tournament has been sanctioned by the games owner Hasbro. The winner will be listed as the champion for this region on their website.
